Jan. 11, 2007 - Cabernets & Bordeaux Blends (97 points & Up)
1. 2002 Shafer, Hillside Select (99) - a WA 100; beautiful wine.
2. 2003 Araujo, Eisele Vineyard (98) - almost as good as the Hillside
Select.
3. 2002 Spottswoode (97) - the surprise of the night for me.
4. 1995 Pride Mountain, Reserve (95) - still young and needs time.
5. 1997 Merryvale, Profile (95) - bit different, due to blend, but nice.
6. 1997 Ch. Montelena (94) - bit hard and closed; needs time.
7. 1994 Beringer, Private Reserve (94) - mature and lovely.
8. Tie: 1989 Ch. Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (93) - aging well; and
2003 Ch. Léoville Barton, St.-Julien (93) - young, needs time.
10. 1987 Beringer, Private Reserve (93) - showing its age just a little.
11. 1990 Ch. Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (92) - angular, needs time.
